Heat Saviour is a practical solution to future-proof your domestic heat pump installation and is compatible with most mono heat pumps.
You can use any heat pump compatible cylinder and it will reduce maintenance and servicing as well as a large reduction in glycol.
This can be retrofitted to existing systems and the back-up heating facility reduces out of hours call outs.
No need for large plant rooms, it is easily fitted into a standard airing cupboard. Heat Saviour is made in the UK and is easily installed.

About Us

Heat Saviour Limited is an independent company supplying a solution to the heat pump industry that overcomes the issues of incompatibility

We were introduced to Hewer Facilities Management in 2019. At this time, like many companies, they had stopped installation of heat pumps due to several issues, including:

 retro fit problems with contamination between existing installations and a new heat pump
 incompatibility of existing heat pumps to latest models

We developed Heat Saviour to resolve these issues.

A trial of Heat Saviour began at Hewer Facilities Management within their training area. Using a third-party cylinder, we simulated installation within a 600mm x 600mm airing cupboard. Several heat pumps were used in the trial including:

 Daikin® Mono 5KW EDLQ C Series
 Mitsubishi® W50
 Midea® 4KW
 Reillo® 4KW
 Mitsubishi® R32 5KW

These heat pumps were all interchangeable with Heat Saviour and required only minor variations to be installed.

Full installations started after consultation with Bromford Housing Group. The trials were very successful resulting in no call backs and Heat Saviour is being installed into several Bromford’s housing stock.

The auxiliary backup was developed for vulnerable housing and is used by facilities management companies looking after housing stock which reduced call-outs and contact during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We are pleased that other housing authorities are seeing the huge advantages with this product and we supply Heat Saviour to several private residences and ongoing projects for:

FAQ

Heat Saviour is a 20 litre buffer vessel with a plate heat exchanger which acts as an interface between a (new or existing) heat source and a (new or existing) domestic heating installation.

Yes. Its design is based on heat pump output of 4kw to 10kw and a Heat Saviour means that the installer and home owner does not need to use manufacturer's components. An independent HP unvented cylinder and a Heat Saviour future proofs a heating installation regardless of changes to heat pumps in the future.

Yes. Due to its position under the unvented cylinder there is no need for excessive pipework, increasing the overall SCOP of the system.

Heat Saviour has diameter of 520mm and a height of 250mm and has been designed to sit under an unvented cylinder.

There is no glycol added to the internal heating circuit that would reduce the flow because of high viscosity. The original heat source is removed reducing resistance. The pump collects its heat from the plate heat exchanger thus giving the existing pipework increased flow.

Heat Saviour has a buffer volume of 20 litres which is on the heat pump side before the plate-to-plate. As the plate can take up to 8m³/h, flow is maintained.

Yes. The Heat Saviour has been used with Midea® and Mitsubishi® systems. These units do NOT require a minimum water volume so the buffer can be switched to increase water volume on the heating circuit.
The 3kw or 6kw element can be switched on remotely via SMS text or manually, giving temporary heating if the main heat source has failed.
This has been developed for vulnerable housing and is used by facilities management companies looking after housing stock which reduced call-outs and contact during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Heat Saviour has a plate heat exchanger to keep the glycol side and the heating circuit separated. The new heat pump pipework is flushed by use of a pump station which reduces the amount of glycol required as the existing heating circuit remains as treated water.

By fitting a suitable mag filter on the return to the buffer.

Yes. The Heat Saviour cover unclips and the plate is attached by 4x nuts. The unit also has drain valves to assist with maintenance tasks.

In a standard installation, the heating element can be connected to a PV installation though a solar boost kit so the buffer would be pre-heated using solar. Even when running, the PV would supply between 800w and 3kw input into the heating circuit increasing the overall SCOP of the system.

Yes. Gas boilers up to 40kw heat only system boilers. Combination boilers will require space for a cylinder and require a full installation. When the Heat Saviour is installed, it requires minor works to switch between a gas or a heat pump.
*HP cylinder must have been installed.

No. A Heat Saviour can stand alone if required. If it is installed at the highest point it has 2x ½" female tappings for an auto and manual air vent.

Yes but due to the glycol side being sealed off from the existing circuit, there is no debris contamination. On servicing the flow rate is checked and passed so the strainer does not need removing. Thus the glycol level does not get reduced due to draining. The internal heating circuit can be drained without the glycol circuit being interfered with and should not require skilled engineers to carry out simple radiator upgrades etc.
